A week after one opened in Elkhart County, a new Disaster Recovery Center has opened in South Bend.

FEMA opened the center Thursday morning, to offer more support to people who are recovering from the historic flooding that struck the area earlier this year.

Representatives have begun meeting with victims at the Leighton Center to show them how to apply for extra financial support. The center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There are also volunteers on-hand offering a variety of services to help people recover from damages.
