There’s no way to sugar-coat it: The situation stinks for some North Shore residents in South Bend when flooding comes after heavy rains.
The South Bend City Council and some residents in the North Shore Triangle have heard the findings of a new study about flooding.
Nearly a third of the residents who responded to the study indicated that their basements flood with backed-up sewage at least once per year. That doesn’t include the historic flooding of this year and 2016.
Another meeting will happen in the next two weeks.
The city will then review the recommendations, estimate the costs for adapting the solutions, and factor them into the 2019 budget.
