The family of the victim of a fatal hit-and-run incident on August 31 are looking for justice, after they first learned of the man’s death through a Facebook message.
Ronnie Blue, 54, was killed in the crash while walking along Michigan Street, according to the St. Joseph County FACT team.
The man who hit him turned himself in the next day, convinced he had hit a dog.
At a memorial service on Sunday, his children told 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57 it took two weeks before anyone notified them of their father’s death.
That’s when a secretary at Palmer’s Funeral Home reached out through Facebook to get in touch with the family, ABC 57 reported.
Blue had a Fort Wayne address, lived at the Center for the Homeless, and worked in Bremen, ABC 57 reported.
His family said he was always busy, and they assumed that was why they hadn’t heard from him.
