South Bend’s Airbnb community rakes in the green from Notre Dame games

Notre Dame’s football season appears to been quite profitable, again, for families who rented their rooms and homes to fans of the Fighting Irish.

Airbnb reports the South Bend community welcomed more than 1,100 guests, earling $1.9 million during home football weekends.

The biggest weekends included the home-opener against Michigan where South Bend hosts earned over $500,00. That blew well past the previous record which occurred during the 2017 home game against USC.

Airbnb data also shows fans of the opposing teams are increasingly taking the opportunity to come to South Bend for the games. During the Pittsburgh game, one-fourth of Airbnb guests were from the state of Pennsylvania.
