Pumpkin thrown from overpass causes crash on Indiana Toll Road

An Edwardsburg woman traveling on the Indiana Toll Road escaped serious injuries after a pumpkin was thrown from an overpass onto the interstate below.

It happened around 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 near the 44 mile marker, according to Indiana State Police.

The pumpkin, which was thrown from the N. Goldring Road overpass, crashed through the windshield of the vehicle, hitting the 64-year-old driver, who then crashed into a ditch, state police reported.

The pumpkin toss is the second such report at that location and the third in this area since Nov. 7. All three incidents happened between 8:45 p.m. and midnight, police said.

Anybody caught committing this type of crime can be charged with criminal mischief or overpass mischief if injuries are involved.
