INDOT taking part in effort to find safe parking for semi drivers

Indiana’s Department of Transportation is participating in a multi-state, regional effort along the interstate highways to make it easier for semi drivers to find safe places to park.

INDOT will have 19 sites listed in a directory of places along Interstates 65, 69 and 70.

It’s a new network of parking areas called Trucks Park Here, which will allow drivers to access real-time information about places where they can safely park.

The sites will also be found along the major interstates in Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio.

INDOT says more than one and a half billion tons of freight move through the Hoosier State each year.
