Chicago man arrested after driving wrong way on I-94 in Berrien County

A Chicago man was arrested after driving the wrong way on I-94.

The incident happened Wednesday morning, June 26. Police received a complaints about a vehicle traveling the wrong way at a high rate of speed from Indiana into Michigan.

Police tried to stop the driver, Diego Flores-Valero, 25, near Lakeside Road but Flores-Valero failed to stop for police.

The suspect vehicle crossed a median and was struck by a semi-tractor traveling westbound.

Flores-Valero was taken into custody after a short struggle with
officers.

He was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, fleeing & eluding and resisting & obstructing police.

I-94 was closed for several hours while cleanup from the crash.
