Two people hurt in separate shootings early Sunday morning in South Bend

Two people were hurt in  two separate shootings that happened early Sunday morning, Sep. 8.

The first incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1700 block of N. Huey.

About 10 minutes later, a 25-year-old man arrived at the hospital with apparent gunshot wounds to the leg. He was treated and released.

The second incident happened just after 6 a.m. Officers responded to the area of Kenwood and Fremont on a ShotSpotter activation.

Officers found a 30-year-old man with an apparent non life threatening injury to the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital by medics.

Several occupied homes were struck by gunfire in the area. There was also a vehicle struck by gunfire. No other injuries have been reported.

The incidents are not believed to be related.

Both incidents remains under investigation by the South Bend Police Investigative Bureau.
