Three people injured in head-on crash on M-51 in Cass County

Alcohol appears to be a factor in a head-on crash in Howard Township.

The collision happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 28, at the intersection of M-51 and Warren Road.

A 56-year-old old Niles woman was traveling southbound on M-51 when a northbound vehicle came into her lane of traffic, causing the crash.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident left the scene.

The Niles woman and a 57-year-old man who was riding in her car were taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

A 31-year-old Shipshewana woman who was a passenger in the suspect vehicle was also transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.

There was no immediate word on whether police know the identity of the suspect driver or his/her location.
