Hit and Run Injures 17 year old Nappanee Girl Riding Her Bike

Police in Elkhart County are looking for a driver in a hit and run after a 17 year old was hit in Nappanee. The 17 year old was on her bike around 4:30 am on Cr. 7, just north of Cr. 52, when she was hit by a vehicle that police say was traveling in the same lane that she was.

By the time police arrived the vehicle was not at the scene and the girl had to be airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. The vehicle in question is described as a maroon Chevy impala that may have damage to the front passenger side.

The girl was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Her condition was not immediately released, but we will update throughout the day.
