Silver Alert for missing New Haven girl cancelled

UPDATE: The Silver Alert for a girl from New Haven Indiana has been cancelled. 6-year-old Leila Veney was found in New Jersey. According to the New Haven Police, the child’s father, Leon Veney, turned himself into authorities in the Garden State. Investigators say Veney took off with the child during a supervised visit on Sunday.

ORIGINAL STORY: The following is the full release from Indiana State Police:

A Statewide Silver Alert has been declared.

The New Haven Police Department is investigating the disappearance of Leila Veney, a 6 year old black female, 4 feet tall, 50 pounds, black hair with brown eyes, last seen wearing a pink jacket, purple unicorn shirt, black tiger print leggings and black boots.

Leila is missing from New Haven, Indiana which is 133 miles northeast of Indianapolis and was last seen on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 8:30 pm. She is believed to be in extreme danger.

Leila may be in the company of Leon Veney, a 34 year old black male, 6 feet 9 inches tall, 245 pounds, black hair with brown eyes and driving a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with New Jersey license plate C82LRH.
