Michigan City Mayor charged with false informing, intimidation and misconduct

The Mayor of Michigan City Mayor is facing multiple counts of false informing, intimidation and official misconduct.

This marks the second time Mayor Ron Meer has been in the news in the past few weeks.

Last month, his his adult stepson was arrested. The Mayor and Police Chief Mark Swistek then reportedly had a heated discussion which led to the chief issuing his resignation. It’s believed the chief was allegedly asked to withdraw cooperation and participation in the LaPorte County Drug Task Force, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Two assistant chiefs also resigned their positions, ABC 57 reported.
