Salvatore Anello, who is accused in the cruise ship death of his grandchild, has declined his right to a jury trial.

On Monday the grandfather of the Granger toddler declined a jury trial and will instead face a judge. The case is expected to be heard in April.

Eighteen month-old Chloe Wiegand died after falling through an open window in July of 2019 while the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas was docked in Puerto Rico.

The family has sued the cruise line for negligence, and the company is suing the grandfather who had been holding the little girl.
