Notre Dame legend Paul Hornung has died

There was sad news on Friday for the Notre Dame family.

Notre Dame legend and Heisman Trophy winner Paul Vernon Hornung has passed away at the age of 84.

Hornung, who went on to a storied career with the Green Bay Packers and spent time as a broadcaster, died after a lengthy battle with dementia.

He won the Heisman with the Fighting Irish in 1956, and is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.

The annual award given to the most versatile player in major college football each season bears his name.
