It’s the holiday season, and police are reminding drivers to either drive sober or get pulled over.

From now through January 1, numerous law enforcement agencies nationwide will be increasing patrols while taking a zero tolerance approach to drunk and drugged driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,500 people were killed in drunk driving crashes in 2018. On average, more than 10,000 people were killed each year from 2014 through 2018, and one person was killed in a drunk driving crash every 50 minutes in 2018.

As you head out to holiday festivities, remember: Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. Designate a sober driver before heading out for the evening, and if you plan on drinking, don’t drive.

Nationally, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher, except in Utah where it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .05 or higher.
