The University of Notre Dame is reporting 51 new positive COVID-19 cases, again having a tough time controlling an outbreak at the beginning of a semester.

An email was sent to students, faculty and staff on Wednesday from the Provost’s office about the increase in positive cases indicated in the new totals from Monday and Tuesday.

The school says it is continuing to monitor the case rates and will update campus activities as needed. The majority of new cases that have been reported have been in the school’s undergraduate population.

This semester, Notre Dame requires weekly surveillance testing for all undergrad and professional students.
