Nearly 40 northeast Indiana school superintendents want changes to this year’s standardized tests.

In a letter sent to Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner and Governor Eric Holcomb, the superintendents say ILEARN testing is a health and safety risk for students and staff.

The superintendents also agreed with a letter sent by 9 Marion County superintendents, who said that schools could use this time to catch up on the instruction they’ve missed out.

The superintendents want the state to at least reconsider the requirements of the ILEARN test, to accommodate in-person students and families who do not want to send their students to school.
