The School City of Mishawaka has introduced their 2023 referendum plan, and announced an employee stipend.

The plan is called “Planning for a Preferred Future of Educational Excellence.” The plan seeks to create trust in the community through transparency, while giving students the best facilities and education possible. Community polling is a cornerstone of the strategy.

The referendum, which is still in its early stages, was announced Wednesday night.

School leaders also unanimously approved a stipend for all employees, after the district received $4.5 million in federal stimulus money. Year-round, 12-month employees and school-year salaried employees will receive a $1,000 stipend. School-year hourly employees will receive $750.
