Family pets killed in house fire on County Road 1 in Elkhart

Three animals were killed in a house fire in Elkhart County.

The blaze broke out around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, in the 5400 block of County Road 1.

There was nobody home at the time, but three family pets died, according to WSBT.

The home was said to be a total loss.

There was no immediate word about the cause of the fire.
