Boil order issued for Buchanan

The city of Buchanan is currently under a boil order until at least the middle of the week following a isolation valve replacement on a fire hydrant.

Around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday the main water was shutdown throughout much of Buchanan.

The Elkhart Truth reports the areas affected are Front Street from Oak Street to Main Street, Oak Street from Charles Street to Third Street and Dewey Street and Dewey Street from Moccasin Street to Oak Street.

Once water is restored, the area will have a boil order until a pair of clear bacteriological tests are collected and analyzed.

Officials are saying it could be as early as Wednesday before water is restored.

However if the tests fail, the boil order could be extended.

Any resident in the area who plan on using water for cooking or drinking will need to boil the water.
