Contracts in Elkhart County are set to begin the replacement of the Goshen Dam Toe Drain.

Officials say the Millrace Canal water levels have been lowered to accommodate the work there.

They say it will stay that way until the construction project is complete.

Once finished, the water level will be allowed to rise 4 to 5 feet over a period of 10 to 14 days.

According to the Elkhart Truth, the construction will impact access from the Millrace Trail to Shoup Parsons Woods, the dam parking lot and restrooms.

The closures will remain in place until October 1st or until the project is complete.
