It hasn’t even been built yet, and the city of Mishawaka is wanting to expand a new athletic complex.

The city is already planning on breaking ground next summer on a new $50 million, 350,000-square-foot fieldhouse, that would include eight volleyball and basketball courts, and two turf fields for soccer and baseball.

The South Bend Tribune says the city is now wanting to purchase an additional 17 acres to the proposed site it acquired from the Penn family and the nearby Juday Creek Golf Course. The plan is to potentially add a new road, outdoor fields, and even ice rinks, if they’re added to the final design.

Financial resources and grants still have to be worked out before the project can move forward.
