Horse-drawn buggies will see registration double next year in Elkhart County

Registration for horse-drawn buggies will double next year in Elkhart County.

That will bring the price to $100 for horse-drawn vehicle and $50 for trailers, which the Board of Commissioner say brings them in line with other counties, such as LaGrange and Kosciusko, which also charge the fee.

The registration money is used to offset the cost to fix road damage caused by horses’ hooves.

The Elkhart Truth reports gouges in the asphalt collect rain in the summer and ice in winter, so they need to be filled in to prevent further deterioration.

You think the government would love the buggies because they are “green”.

It seems they love the green of money even more.
