A 17-year-old Syracuse girl died a crash along County Road 500 East earlier this month.

Emergency crews were called to the stretch of road in Tippecanoe Township just before 5:30  a.m. on Dec. 4 where the found a vehicle with heavy fire damage that had hit a tree.

Makensie Thomas, who attended Wawasee High School, died in the crash.

Police say there was heavy fog at the time.
