Man killed in Cheers Pub shooting identified

UPDATE: From the St. Joseph County Police Department:

County Police investigators interviewed 12 separate witnesses all present at Cheers at the time of the shooting early this morning.
Witnesses confirm that a fight broke out inside the bar between two males. During the
fight a black male with dread locks pulled out a handgun and shot the other male in the upper chest one time.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital and short time later and has been identified as Rolando Saenz Jr. (m/h) age 39 of South Bend. The suspect is believed to have fled Cheers Pub in a white Jeep.
County Police continue to review witness statements and video evidence and are searching for a suspect.

ORIGINAL STORY: One man was shot inside Cheers Pub on 933 in Roseland during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police were called out to the bar on South Dixie Way around 1:20 a.m. for reports of a shooting. On arrival they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Police say there were several witnesses to the shooting, who are now being interviewed by investigators.

According to officials, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Joseph County Police Department or Michiana Crime Stoppers.
