Man who killed dog arrested in LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ind. — LaGrange County Police have arrested a man who they say killed a dog with a machete on Wednesday.

Police were called to the area of E 025 N in LaGrange just after 7 a.m. for a welfare check and animal complaint.

After investigating, police say 22-year-old Star Speicher — while under the influence of methamphetamine — killed a small dog with a machete and severely injured another dog that later had to be put down by the owner.

Speicher was taken to the LaGrange County Jail and booked for two counts of Torture or Mutilation of a Vertebrate Animal.
