Michigan government cutting back on COVID-19 data releases

Here’s a sign that Michigan believes the worst of COVID-19 may be behind us.

The state is reducing their public reporting on coronavirus statistics from three times a week, to once. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson Lynn Sutfin tells M-Live that at this stage of the pandemic, “daily updates do not inform policy or contribute to the national surveillance program.”

Starting April 4, Wednesday will be the only day Michigan updates their data.

The CDC reports that many other states are also moving to less-frequent public reporting.
