Two South Bend Police officers were injured trying to detain a man armed with as many as two screwdrivers.

Officers were called, just before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, to the 500 block of South Michigan Street on the report of an unwanted person.

As police approached, the man began punching one of the officers. In response, one of the officers attempted to deploy a taser, which was ineffective.

The man attacked officers, again, and they ended up on the ground. Officers were able to take him into custody, but not before one officer suffered facial fractures and cuts and another suffered a hand injury.

South Bend Police are asking anybody with information to call the South Bend Police Detective Bureau at 574-235-9263 or submit an anonymous tips to Michiana Crime Stoppers by calling 574-288-STOP.

Those cops should have just shot the screwdrivers out of the guy’s hands. I know it’s possible, I’ve seen it in the movies. That’s where I learned everything I know about guns.
