The commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is resigning earlier than expected.

Peter Lacy previously announced he’d leave the position on May 27. Instead, he notified Governor Holcomb’s office that his resignation would take effect immediately on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Holcomb had announced Joe Hoage as the next BMV commissioner.
