Man arrested, suspected of attacking two people, punching state trooper

A 47-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attacking two people and punching a state trooper in Van Buren County.

The victims came across the suspect near a shack in the woods.

Police say that the suspect punched one of the victims in the face, knocking him to the ground.

When the second man tried to stop the assault, the suspect went into the shack and got an axe.

Soon after, officers encountered the suspect who then allegedly punched a state trooper.

The suspect was arrested on preliminary charges of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting and obstructing and assaulting a police officer.
