A South Bend man was sentenced to 108 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

It was May 2019 when federal prosecutors say Kelvin Franklin, 39, agreed with others to obtain methamphetamine from California.

Franklin flew to the Golden State with cash and was present when 15 kilograms of meth were delivered.

The drug was loaded into a car and Johnson was stopped by law enforcement while enroute back to the Midwest.

This is one of several recent cases, recently, ending with a conviction where drugs were confiscated while being transported from the west coast back to this area.

The case was investigated by the D-E-A and F-B-I with help from Mishawaka Police, the St. Joseph County Drug Investigations Unit, Indiana State Police, and Missouri State Police.
