Statehouse Republicans now plan to convene with state lawmakers for a special session to July 25.

House Speaker Todd Huston and Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray worked with Governor Eric Holcomb to move the special session to July 25. That’s when lawmakers plan to meet to address the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade. They will also focus on the state’s budget surplus and financial relief for Hoosiers. The session is expected to last multiple weeks.

Technically, the special session will still begin on the originally scheduled date of July 6th, but state law allows legislators to use up to 40 calendar days to complete their work. The change means Lawmakers won’t actually meet until July 25.
