Indiana State Police investigating death of inmate

The Indiana State Police is investigating the death of an inmate at the St. Joseph County Jail.
State Police investigators were called around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, after jail staff found the female inmate alone and unresponsive in her cell in the medical unit.
Life-saving measures were conducted by jail and medical staff until emergency medical technicians arrived.
The female inmate was pronounced dead at the jail.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Friday.
