High-speed chase results in La Porte County death

(95.3 MNC)
A high-speed chase claimed a life in La Porte County.
It happened around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 22, in Michigan City when police saw a vehicle headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of Michigan Blvd.
Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not stop. Instead, they navigated through city streets until they headed south on Washington Street. It was then that they accelerated to high speeds and drove through the intersection of Skwiat Legion Ave without stopping.
The vehicle hit a concrete pillar blocking Ames Field and flew into the air, slamming through the brick wall of the bleachers. The vehicle then came to a full stop under the bleachers.
The driver was pulled from the car, but died on scene. The driver was identified as Grant J. Grable, 18, of Bourbonnais, Illinois.
