This week is National Crash Responder Safety Week

It’s a week to honor emergency workers, tow truck drivers, and courtesy van patrol drivers.

MDOT officials say responding to crashes is a dangerous job for those workers, something that was made all too clear during the challenging road conditions in Michiana last week.

Drivers are urged to be aware of their surroundings, especially this week as road traffic increases, and to move over a lane and reduce their speed if they spot a crash.
