Holtec International is reapplying for a U.S Department of Energy grant to restart the Palisades Nuclear Plant.

The plans to restart the plant were backed by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who thought it would bring jobs.

Holtec’s original request for a Civil Nuclear Credit program grant was rejected in early December. They can reapply starting in January.

Holtec told ABC 57 News that they are going to reapply, since Palisades could add good paying jobs and more to the local community.

They continued saying that they believe nuclear power is key to leading to a greener future as well as energy independence.

Nuclear power is more dependable that wind and solar. We should support this move because we will need the power when the Post Office starts running 25,000 EV delivery vehicles. Otherwise train loads of coal will need to be burned to keep the letters and packages arriving.
