A man was arrested after allegedly cutting copper from Norfolk Southern tucks.

It happened in Dec. 27, when St. Joseph County Police were called to a business on County Line Road on reports of a theft.

The business owner said that items were missing from the truck he was working on and wire was also cut.

ABC 57 News reports that 28-year-old Richard Aguilera was detained in connection with the theft, after a chief from the New Carlisle Police Department recognized him.

After a search, investigators found the same clothes and backpack seen in the surveillance footage and some of the missing property.

Aguilera was charged with misdemeanor and felony theft with a prior conviction.

Aguilera allegedly admitted to going through the trucks.

He has a recent conviction for theft.

Aguilera is being held on a $2,000 cash bond.

He is due in court on January 26 for his initial hearing.
