The Indiana University Board of Trustees approved the realignment of IPFW on Thursday.

The proposal will split IPFW into two separate entities.

According to IU, the agreement would transfer Purdue’s IPFW nursing, medical imagine and dental education programs to IU. Purdue University would handle the rest of the programs.

The agreement still has to be approved by Purdue’s Board of Trustees. If it is approved, it would go into effect by July 1, 2018.

The board voted on Thursday 7-2 to approve the plan.
