Arrest made after police surround home in Elkhart

(Sam Householder/Elkhart Truth)

Elkhart Police and federal officials arrested a man after surrounding the home he was in on Main St. near Hively Ave.

Police blocked off Main St. between Hively and Morton Avenues at around noon Thursday, according to the Elkhart Truth.

It’s not known exactly why the man was sought. The suspect was apprehended and was heard yelling at officers on the way out.

Elkhart police could only confirm they were assisting an “outside” agency.

ABC 57’s Caleigh Bourgeois says FBI was at the scene while The Elkhart Truth’s Sam Householder reports that U.S. Marshals were there.

Main St. has since re-opened.

We’ll have more on this developing situation as we get it.
