A child was killed and two adults injured in a crash that happened early Sunday morning in LaPorte County.

It was along U.S. 35 just after midnight when state police say a car left the road and collided with a tree.

It then kept going and hit a second tree before coming to rest in the woods along the side of the highway.

The two adults, both in their 40’s, were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.

Two children were also in the car. A 7-year-old girl was killed and an 8-year-old boy only had minor injuries.

Troopers believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
