Pence to avoid charges related to classified documents found at Indiana home

openverse.com
Former Vice President Mike Pence is avoiding charges related to classified documents being found at his Indiana home.
The Department of Justice informed Pence’s attorney that the investigation was closed and there will be no charges based on “results” of the investigation. The former Vice President is expected to announce his bid for President next week.
Lawyers for Pence reported that a “small number” of classified materials had been found at the Indiana home earlier this year. An adviser to Pence says they are pleased but not surprised at the end of the federal investigation.
Pence claims that he had been unaware the documents were at his home but said that “mistakes were made” and took responsibility for it. Pence’s lawyers also say Pence acted in good faith because both he and his team immediately cooperated with the FBI and the National Archives.
Meantime, investigations are ongoing into classified documents found at the residences of former President Trump and President Biden.
