Bystanders pull person from window of home on fire on S. 25th Street in South Bend

Bystanders are being credited with pulling a person from the front window of a home that caught fire in South Bend.

Fire crews were called around 12:10 p.m. on Monday, July 3, to the 700 block of South 25th Street and were met with smoke coming from the front door.

The engine crew laid an attack line into the home and quickly found the fire to be coming from the kitchen area and extinguished the burning product.

Fans were set up to evacuate the residual smoke from the structure.

Other people in the home were outside with the family dog upon arrival of the fire department.

One person from the home was evaluated at the scene and did not care to be transported for further evaluation at a local hospital.

No report of injuries to any firefighters while fighting the fire.
