Paramedic killed, another injured in ambulance rollover crash

A Starke County paramedic died after a rollover crash while responding to an emergency call.

Starke County Sheriff’s deputies and County EMTs were called around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, to the intersection of County Roads 800 South and 700 East.

Investigators say the ambulance was struck by another vehicle.

Michael Wilcox lost his life. The other paramedic was taken to Northwest Hospital in LaPorte with critical injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai sedan that was also involved in the collision suffered just minor injuries.
