Motorcyclist in critical condition after collision on Ironwood Road

The person who was injured in a motorcycle-involved crash on Ironwood Road in South Bend was critically hurt.

The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 7, on the stretch of Ironwood that runs between Edison Road and State Road 23.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 21-year-old Wilmettte, Illinois resident, was traveling southbound on Ironwood Road and the driver of the motorcycle, a 35-year-old South Bend man, was also traveling southbound on Ironwood Road when the collision occurred.

The motorcyclist was critically injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the passenger vehicle was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
