(Tommie Lee/MNC)

A Berrien Springs man was sentenced to prison on sexual conduct charges.

It happened more than ten years ago, against four girls in the area. Leader Publications says that the four victims spoke before the sentencing via Zoom.

They said that they were still fighting to overcome the trauma from when they were young children.

43-year-old Derek Sheppler pleaded guilty to two counts of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.

He was sentenced to 57 months to 10 years in prison, lifetime registry as a sex offender, and fines.
