Indiana’s unemployment rate in September stands at 3.6%, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s just two-tenths below the national unemployment rate.
Locally, the rate in St. Joseph County dropped more than half a point from September to 4 percent. In Elkhart County, the rate dropped more than a half point to 3.8 percent.
In addition, Indiana’s labor force participation rate sat at 63.4% for September, remaining above the national rate of 62.8%. Industries that experienced job increases in September included: Trade, Transportation and Utilities… Leisure and Hospitality… and Financial.
