St. Joseph and Laporte Counties have two of the lowest tax burdens in the state.

That’s according to SmartAsset, which has launched their 2024 study of the places nationwide that have the lowest tax burden. The study calculates results based on the amount people pay in income, property, sales, and fuel taxes in every county nationwide.

LaPorte County finished 5th on Indiana’s list, St. Joseph County was 6th.
