The Michigan State Police Women in Law Enforcement Conference happened earlier this week.
It took place in Grand Rapids on Tuesday and Wednesday. WSJM says the event has drawn in about 450 women in law enforcement from all over the state.
MSP Inspector Sarah Krebs says the conference started in 2018 to bring women in law enforcement together to network, learn from each other and to pass knowledge to upcoming recruits.
A recruitment shortage has led to more women being sought by police, and MSP are pursuing the 30 By 30 initiative with a goal of 30% of recruit school candidates to be women by 2030.
Those in attendance got to witness presentations by women working in several law enforcement branches, as well as participate in panel discussions.
