A Van Buren County man who killed a county road worker in a crash last year has been sentenced to 7 to 15 years in prison.
Logan Brown of Hartford was found guilty of operating in a work zone causing death and driving without insurance in February. The jury acquitted him of drunk driving.
He struck and killed Rene Rangel of Dowagiac in Lawrence Township in a construction zone on March 3, 2023.
At the sentencing, this week, several Van Buren County Road Department employees were present, and the victim’s sister said she hopes her brother’s death will remind drivers to slow down in construction zones.
