Suspect hospitalized after Porter County police shooting

A suspect is in the hospital after they were shot by police who were responding to a well-being check in Porter County early Wednesday morning.
The Porter County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were sent to the 1200 block of Maine view Drive for the wellness check just after 1am Wednesday. Police say the male suspect was found in the area with a gun.
It has not been reported if the suspect shot that gun, but an officer at the scene shot him. His condition has not been reported, but he has been taken to a hospital.
The officer involved in the shooting and the suspect’s identity are expected to be released later.
Information on what led to the shooting has not been released.
